What is a Postpartum Doula?
A postpartum doula is a professionally trained specialist who supports new mothers during the postpartum period, commonly referred to as the "fourth trimester," which encompasses the first six weeks following childbirth. While a birth doula assists with labor and delivery, a postpartum doula provides essential support, guidance, and expertise once you and your baby are home.

Having your first baby at 20 years old is tough, but it’s even tougher alone. I didn’t know that a postpartum doula was even a thing, but I truly believe God placed Sala in my path at the perfect time. I had been stood up by doulas and turned off by their energy. It’s important to be careful of who you invite into your home, especially when you’re so vulnerable as to have just had a baby. I felt like I was with someone I had already known and didn’t have trouble trusting that she had a pure heart and intentions to take care of me and my baby. I learned a doula isn’t a babysitter or caregiver, but a warm embrace to a scared and fragile mother. Sala is truly a blessing to my family and I hope others can be blessed with her services.

We were soon to have our first child. Although we have a really supportive family, we knew we needed some additional help. A hospital professional strongly recommended that we look into hiring a postpartum doula! We learned that Sala was liensed and we set up an interview. We immediately knew she would be perfect for us. Sala was professional, warm, trustworthy, and helpful. It was such a blessing to have her in the house. Her job was literally to be a support to the family so she helped us think through what our needs were. Each of us benefited from her care. We would encourage every family to set aside some funds to pay for the post-portum doula for the first 6 weeks. It could be 4 hours a week or it coudl be full time. It's really about what you need and Medicaid, FSA/HSA, and some insurance company can cover the costs. Just know that every family needs some amount of rest and care after a new baby. Postpartum moms (& dads): “You won’t regret bringing ‘That’s My Doula LLC’ into your family.”
We were blessed by her services!
